What regulations must fire door hardware comply with?
Fire doors require extensive testing to ensure that comply and operate as intended should a fire occur, this means that only certified doors that include a CE Mark, DoP (Declaration of Performance), and third-party certifications such as Certifire can be classed as fire doors. On top of this, it is vitally important that any hardware fitted to fire doors are fire door rated and approved to the same standard as the door, if ironmongery or hardware fitted doesn't match then the fire door certification becomes invalid.
For example: FD60 fire-rated doors have been tested to withstand fires from spreading for 60 minutes and therefore ironmongery and hardware that meets FD60 must be installed. The same goes for FD30 fire-rated doors.
